Abstract

Anti-L-asparaginase precipitating antibodies were studied in ten different immune-sera. It was done by precipitation reactions in liquid media using as antigen an enzyme preparation obtained by partia! puriiication of agouti
serum. Supernatants and precípitates were incubated wi th L-asparagine as a substrate.
In the presence of L-asparaginase, L-asparagine was converted into L-aspartic
acid, and both amino acids were characterized by th in-layer chromatography on
silica-gel. Seven of ten immune sera exhibited high levels of anti-enzyme precipitating
antibodies, and the thrce remaining sera contained low lsvels of these antibodies.
A relationship was not found between the immune-sera protein concentration
and antibody activity.
