Abstract
During five years, feaces irom 1,457 hospitalized children under ten years old and irom 2,831 of ambulatory patients over ten years old were examined for Salmonella isolation. The Salmonella strains were isolated from 361 patients with increasing frequency irom 3.650/0 in 1972 to 18.630/0 in 1976. The
frequence of isolation was higher in the hospitalized patients (19.970/0) than in
the ambulatory ones (2.470/0). Sixteen different serotypes were classified and the Salmonella typhimurium was the prevalent strain in both groups of patients. We must point out that any other papel already published had not found so many
serotypes in the same region.
