Abstract
An examination of Salmonelta serotypes isolated and identified at the Bacteriology Section, Instituto Adolfo Lutz, São Paulo, during the period
1970-76 is presented. Of 8.238 Salmonella strains, 66.5% belonged to S. typhimurium
serotype. This predominance was more marked in human feces and spinal fluid samples (85.6% and 93%, respectively). It was remarked that selenite broth with Novobiocin and the Instituto Adolfo Lutz medium for presumptive diagnoais
clearly increased the frequency of Salmenella sp., isolates.
