Abstract
This paper reports the observed frequencies of multiple infections by germs of the Emterobacteriaceae family in feces samples obtained in São Paulo City during the period 1970-76. Of 7409 positive samples, 1054 yielded two germs,
45 yielded three germs and 2 samples yielded four germs (14.9% of multiple
infection). Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coZi 0111:B4 predominated in
double-infection sample ; muItiple infections were very frequent (66.7%) in the age group 0-5 months and the incidence of multiple infections rose in winter time. Most sample were collected in children's hospitals.
