Abstract
Harada & Mori's method (1951) for cultivation of larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale and Necat.or americanus was employed in a search for their prevalence in feces from inhabitants of the Greater São Paulo. Identification was made through Matsusaki's criterium after examination of third-stage filarioid larvae. As a check of the diagnostic procedure ernployed, adult specimens were obtained after adequate therapy of several patients. Of 300 fecal specimens, 60,3% contained. N. ame rica nus, 14.7% included A. duodenale and 25.0% showed double infestation.
