Abstract

The main goal in this study was to identify corticosteroid substances in alternative medicines for asthma and chronic bronchitis; Such medicines are sold in some pharmacies in the city of São Paulo without any information about its composition. Corticosteroid substances were found in 24,6 per cent from the total number of analysed samples. Thin-layer chromatography was adopted to achieve the detection of corticosteroid due to its high sensibility. (around 1 microgramma).
