Resumen

Background: In the early 90s, the HIV changes its profile, reaching a higher percentage in women of reproductive age. Once the transmission is very epidemiologic important. Objective: To evaluate the profile of children under 13 accompanied by Adolfo Lutz Institute - Regional Laboratory from São José do Rio Preto, in monitoring the TCD4 lymphocytes and viral load between 2006 to 2008. Materials and Methods: Analysis of data obtained through the System Control reports of laboratory tests (SISCEL) of the National STD / AIDS, of children under 13 for a period of three years from 2006 to 2008. Result: It was detected during this period 389 children who were monitored in the reference service for HIV / AIDS. They were mainly male (56.5%), the age groups that had higher percentages are found between 6 and 13 years (52.7%), and below 12 months (36.5%). For values of TCD4 lymphocytes, following the criteria of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), most patients around 63,5%, above the count presented for defining cases of AIDS. It was observed that most patients aged 6 to 13 years old have detectable viral load and good levels of CD4. There was also a decrease in requests for examinations TCD4 lymphocytes and an increase in viral load tests. Conclusion: It was observed that the greater number of prevalent cases of AIDS among children aged 6 up to 13,this fact can be explained by the lack of structure at the time of the birth of children. However was found a decline in the number of cases of children with AIDS, suggesting that health services are structured, both in primary care and in monitoring treatment.
