Abstract
Our observations on the influence of the temperature, acidity, alkalinity and culture media agree with the idea that we are in presence of Turbatrix aceti. From a study of the literature concerning this worm, we learned that it does not seem pathogenic to man. The following conclusion were drawn from our tests: 1) Confirmation was obtained that the species under study has little need of oxygen; 2) It can stand, for several days, the temperature of 37°C, which, however, does not favor its growth; 3) In acid media, it tolerates the pH 1,9 for 24 hrs.; but it does not stand a pH lower than 1,6; 4) The limit of resistance to the hydrogen concentration on the alkaline side was pH 11,2.
