Abstract
The paper deals with the description of a new species Mononchus piracicaboides - found about roots of banana plants growing in the moist ground near Caraguatatuba, State of São Paulo. M. piracicaboides differs from its nearest related species, M. piracicabae e M. trichiurus by its large size and by two denticles at the base of pharynx; M. trichiurus has more denticles, after COBB, and M. piracicabae has no denticle, after LORDELLO. From the last, it differs also by the presence of a caudal valvular apparatus.
