Abstract
The Electron Microscopy Section of Institute Adolfo Lutz received 129 biological samples (vesicle fluid, genital and anal scrapies lesions, saliva and urine) of patients with AIDS, suspected Herpesvirus infection, in the period of 1986-90, for rapid virus diagnosis by Electron Microscopy. From those samples, 25%(32/129) were positive to Herpesvirus, which some detections showed atypical aspects, such as: - a) great quantity of virus particles; b) detection of two or more nucleocapsids in the same envelope; and c) detection of great aggregates of nucleocapsids without envelopes. This observation could be attributed the immunedepression caracteristics of those patients. This relate is considered important by us because it could represent additional dates to study the virus infection in patients with AIDS.
