Abstract
A sparganum, tapeworm plerocereoid larva from the genus Spirometra, was removed from the abdominal cavity -near the umbilicus - of a 17-year-old brazilian female. The worrn measured approximately 40 em in length. The patient had large subeutaneous abscesses, abdominal pain, fever, malaise, siekness and vomit.
