Abstract

Ultraviolet radiation has been accepted as an alternative to chlorination for disinfection of water. The objective of this work is microorganism inactivation survey. A batch reactor, equipped with ultraviolet Iamp, was used in the tests. Ecoli, Eaeruginosa, A.hydrophila, E. faecalis e V.cholerae were the microorganism employed for the study of inactivatíon. The E.coli was the bacteria with the strongest initial resistance but the greatest inactivation constant, E.faecalis was the most resistant.
