Abstract
Neutralizing antibodies against types 1 to 7 adenovirus were titrated in 180 se ra from 180 inhabitants of the city of São Paulo who beloriged to
various age groups. Blood specimens were coIlected in February, 1982. Antibodies against types 1, 2, 3, and 5 were found in 53.3% of the donors. Antibodies against types 1 and 2 were found 88.9% to 100% of the donors who were 5 or more years old. Antibodies against types 3 and 5 were detected in 71.9 to 92.8% of donors 20 or more years old. A mean of 50% of donors 5 or more years old showed antibodies against types 4 and 6 while 20% showed antibodies against type 7. It was fou'nd that 40% of children 0-4 year old had no antibody to the 7 study types while 72.8% of donors over 10-year old had an tibodies against 4 to 6 serotypes.
