Abstract
A study is made of the active components of desinfectants regularly used in hospitaIs (calcium hypochlorite, quaternary ammonium compounds, phenols, formaldehyde, Irgasan DP-300). Tables are presented which show the relation between the phenol coefficient and the use dilution of each desinfectant. It is stressed that these are dilutions of a desinfectant which are proper to specific areas such as surgical centers, newborn wards, intensive therapy units etc.
