Abstract

Sera from 125 children with clinical manifestations of lung infection were tested for antibodies to Chlamydia trachomatis by indirect immunofluorescence test; 18 (14.4%) were positives for IgM antibodies (titera I :32). However if we consider only those children with intersticial pneumonia i.e. 80 children, 17 (21.3%) were positives. Only one (2.5%) out of 45 children with nonpneumonic conditions (bronchiolitis) was positive for IgM antibodies (títere 1:32). Sensitivity and specificity of indirect immunofluorescence test for chlamydia antibodies in pneumonia cases are discussed.
