Abstract

22 Flavobacterium mening osepticum strains isolated from cerebro spinal fluid 19, blood 2, and throat I, were serotyped by slide agglutination test using specific somatic antisera prepared according lhe method described by RICHARD et alii. These strains, most of them isolated from newborn, were classified into 6 serotypes, and among them the serotype C was lhe predominant one followed by F, B, D, H and O serotypes. Neonatal meningitis in despite of its rare occurence, it i s a severe infection with a high mortality rate and serious neurological sequelas; the characterization of the strains, isolated from epidemics reported in various countries, has been carried out by determination of the serotype, epidemiologic m arker in Flavobacterium meningosepticum.
