Resumen
195 cepas de Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a maioria isoladas de sangue e de líquido cefalorraquidiano foram sorotipadas de acordo com o método de aglutinação em lâmina. Os sorotipos 0:6 e O:11 foram os tipos prevalentes com 25,64% e 20,54%, respectivamente. O sorotipo 0:10 causou um surto de meningite envolvendo principalmente crianças com menos de um ano de idade, em 1974, na vigência da epidemia de meningite meningocócica na cidade de São Paulo. Dentre os sorotipos foram encontrados 12 diferentes piocinotipos com predominância dos tipos 1,3 e 10 que correspondem a cerca de 90% das cepas tipadas. É importante o uso combinado dos metódos de sorotipagem e piocinotipia para diferenciação de cepas pertencentes a um mesmo sorotipo.
