Resumen
Soros de 100 pacientes com febre tifóide confirmada foram testados simultaneamente pela reação de fixação em superfície e pela reação de Widal com antígeno somático e com antígeno flagelar, em comparação com os resultados de hemo cultura. Houve concordância absoluta entre os resultados de hemocultura e de reação de fixação em superfície, enquanto que a reação de Widal foi negativa em 18 casos, com antígeno somático e, em 24 casos, com antígeno flagelar. Em 200 casos de pacientes com diagnóstico clínico e laboratorial de outras moléstias infecciosas, a reação de fixação em superfície sempre foi negativa, enquanto que a reação de Widal, com antígeno somático, foi positiva em 52% e, com antígeno flagelar, em 14,5% dos casos. É sugerida a adoção da reação de fixação em superfície no diagnóstico laboratorial da febre tifóide em razão de sua maior sensibilidade e maior especificidade.
