Abstract
The authors have studied 883 samples ofmedical device, from 1990 to 1994, may, concerning Sterility Contro!. These medical device were manufactured by brazilian industries. The analysis were carried out according to Brazilian Pharrnacopeia 4th edition and USP XXII. The results showed that 7.5%have not met the pharrnacopeical requirements for sterility. The results suggest that
regulatory authorities must provide actions to prevent problems for consumers, mainly due by cross contamination and hospitalar-infections.
