Abstract

EFFECT OF IRON ON THE BTOSYNTHESISOF AFLATOXINB] BY Aspergillus flavus 1MI 190443 AFTER INOCULATIONIN TWO PEANUTS GENOTYPES. Productionof af1atoxin B] by Aspergillus jlavus IMI 190443 in peanuts seeds from Tatu Vermelho and VRR-245 genotypes was evaluated. They were raised in Campinas Experimental Center of Instituto Agronômico during 1994/1995 and the ground was supplemented with iron sulfate. After harvested seeds were autoclaved at 121°C for 20 minutes and inoculated with Aspergillus flavus spore suspension in three concentrations: 103 ,104 e 105 spores/mL. The production ofaf1atoxin B] was less in VRR-245 genotype even so the concentration of Aspergillusflavus was different (103 , 104 e 105 spores/mL) and the supplementation was with or without iron sulfate ( p<0,05 ), when it is compared to Tatu Vermelho. A less amount of af1atoxin B] was found in Tatu Vermelho and VRR-245 genotypes when it was supplemented and
inoculated with Aspergillus flavus only at the concentration of 103 spores/mL.
