Resumo
A Hemoglobinopatia S é considerada doença de saúde pública devido à sua morbidade e frequência. E o desenvolvimento de "screenings" é útil. Em 836 amostras de sangue periférico de gestantes foram realizados, o teste de solubilidade, o teste de falcização e o novo teste em gel-centrifugação (ID-Sickle Cell Test-DIAMED). 28 amostras foram igualmente positivas para Hb S nos três métodos utilizados sem discrepâncias, onde todos apresentaram a mesma especificidade e sensibilidade na detecção dessa hemoglobina. Entretanto, o teste da gel-centrifugação e o teste de solubilidade demons-
traram rapidez na obtenção dos resultados e a possibilidade de serem executados com pouco treinamento.
