Abstract

Defined as "Dermatoses with medico-social significance" are skin conditions which cause temporary or permanent socio-professional disability, with moral and economical repercussions in the community. Scabies, pediculoses, superficial and deep mycoses, exanthematic viroses, hanseniasis and diseases sexually transmitted (venereal), belong to this group. Ulcus cruris, skin cancer and pre-cancer, toxic-allergic and professional diseases might be included, sensu lane. Those diseases should be taken care of by a dynamic Health Unit integrated with the University. Details of the structure and functions of that Unit are described.
