A group of 33 leprosy patients with ulnar nerve neuritis undergo surgical release and anterior subcutaneous transposition of this nerve. Surgery was indicated due to progressive deterioration of neural function despite clinical treatment. Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments and VMT were used to assess nerve function before and 12 months after surgery. 39.3% showed improvement of nerve function,39.3% remained stable and 21.4% developed further deterioration.
