Abstract

It was attempted to establish if leprosy patients with positive Rubino's reaction would display immunological characteristics that could distinguish them from those with negative Rubino's reaction. By electrophoresis, Rubino-negative patients (virchowian and tuberculoid) showed higher levels of alpha2, globulin than Rubino- positive patients Virchowian and normal individuals. Beta globulin levels were decreased in Rubino-positive and increased in Rubinonegative Virchowian patients. By immunoelectrophoresis similar results for the two lepromatous groups: constant increase of IgG znd IgM and unfrequent raise of lgA were found.
