Abstract
Sera of hanseniasis patients were classified as Rubino- sitive (virchowiana) and Rubino-negative (virchowians and tuberculoids), and analysed for the presence of auto-antibodies (anti-thyreoglobulin and rheumatoid factor). The presence of anti-thyreoglobulin antibodies could be demonstrated only in virchowian Rubino-
positive patients (43%). The rheumatoid factor was detected in the two virchowian groups: 30% in the Rubino-positive and 17% in the Rubino-negative. This difference was not statistically significant.
