Abstract

This paper compares the Nerve Conduction Studies with Ligth Touch-Deep Pressure Evaluation in upper extremities of Hansen's Disease pacients. Thirty nerves were studied; 06 Median and 24 Ulnar. The equipment used in this study was 5 monofilament Semmes-Weinstein pocketportable field kit and an electromyograph. The first assessment served to stablish the presence or absence of nerve disfunction. The follow-up evaluation showed whether the nerve conduction was improved, deterioreted or stable. Statistical studies showed significant similarity between the tests results of the two procedures when used for the objetives discribed above.
