Abstract
A clofazimina, um corante riminofenazínico, sintetizado, por BARRY et al, em 1957, apresenta atividade antimicobacteriana e foi inicialmente empregada no tratamento de tuberculose. A atividade antimicobacteriana, contra o M. tuberculosis, in vitro foi muito efetiva. Entretanto, estudos experimentais em camundongos e como monoterapia, sua atividade foi considerada mal sucedida, para M. tuberculosis e M. leprae.
