Resumo
Os autores descrevem uma nova técnica para extrair e dosar β-caroteno de vegetais e material verde em geral. A extração dos pigmentos é feita em aparelho de Soxlet modificado de maneira a permitir a extração de todos os pigmentos e a separação de toda a clorofila dos mesmos. Após a extração da clorofila, o β-caroteno é separado cromatograficamente dos outros pigmentos amarelos e determinado espectrofotometricamente.
