Abstract

Foodborne diseases by Salmonella sp are one of the most important problems in Public Health. Since 1994 a significant increase of S. Enteritidis outbreaks have been notified in the Great São Paulo city. From October 1994 to June 1997, 18 foodborne disease outbreaks due to Salmonella were reported, involving 23 different kinds of foods. S. Enteritidis was responsible for 13 (72,2%) of the outbreaks.
