Abstract

A survey was carried out in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, 25 samples obtained in the mi1k bank of the "Hospital do Servidor Público do Estado de São Paulo", Brasil, as well from some volunteering nursing womem. The method of analysis was that described by the Manual of Methods for Pesticide Residues in Human and Environmental Samples - EPA-USA. HCH isomers and metabolites of DDT were found in ali sarnples but just one showed dieldrin. The levels of HCH total (sum of alpha, beta and gamma isomers) ranged from 3 to 758 f.Lg/l, but 90% of the samples had levels below 38 f.Lg/l. For the complex DDT (sum of metabolites) the levels ranged from 16 to 2610 f.Lg/l. This maximum is very far from the other levels because 80% of the sarnples reamined below 318 f.Lg/l.
